The 2006 Trek 5200 bicycle
From 2006 until 2021, I rode a Trek 5200 road bike with a triple 52/39/30 front chainring, 10-speed 12-25 cassette, and Shimano Ultegra components.
It was very light, but had the following drawbacks in a commuting bike:
There is almost no clearance for fenders.
The wheels only accept 25mm tires, which are precarious during wet weather.
The frame lacks any eyelets for securing racks.
The cables coming from the brifters are not routed along the handlebars, but stick out where a front bag might go.
The spokes are bladed for aerodynamics and sharp when holding the wheels by them.
I did manage to fit SKS Raceblade fenders and a Tubus Airy rear rack with their QR adapter set.
In 2025, I donated it to Good Karma Bikes.
